The monastery of Kyria ton Angelon of Gouvernetou ,one of the oldest monasteries in Crete lies at an altitude of 260 meters. Built in 1537 by monks.On the way to the Catholic Gouvernetou you can find the cave where Arkoudiotissa got its name from a stalagmite resembling a bear. The cave church dedicated to Virgin Mary.
Afterwards you will visit the Folklore Museum at Pazinos Akrotiri area which connects the past with the present in a space consisting of three rooms with exhibits from 1880 and newer.
Continuing you will visit the monastery of Agia Triada Tsagarolon, which has been established in early 17th century by the brothers-both monks-Laurentions and a Ieremias Tsangaroli, Orthodox of Venetian origin and it’s the bigger monastery complex in Crete.
The monastery used to have the Ottomans during the Greek Revolution of 1821. Last destination are the tombs of the Venizelos family. The most important sights of Chania where are the graves of the famous Greek politician El.Venizelou and his son Sof.Venizelou as well as the small church of Profiti Ilias and statue of Kagialedaki. An area of natural beauty with wonderfull views.
