Platanias Beach is situated 11 kilometers far from Chania,and 22,5 kilometres from Souda port,  just off the Old National Road to Kastelli. Platanias is a sandy beach very popular and crowded. Platanias is the tourism center of Chania as there are many tourist shops and souvenirs. The beach is well organised, offering food and drink at the sea front taverns and many beach bars. Facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas, sea sports etc) are also available.
